Hall Users & Organisations - Health & Safety Induction

Welcome to City Church Bangor!

We ask all hall users to follow high standards of health and safety while using our facilities. This applies to everyone: individuals, internal and external organisations and any contractors or service providers you bring with you.

Our goal is to make sure that all activities that take place on our premises are safe for everyone. By following the guidelines and acting responsibly, you help us create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

What are my responsibilities?

  • You or your organisation should have appropriate Public Liability Insurance and where necessary Employer’s Liability Insurance. You may be asked to produce evidence of your policy documents.

If you are an internal organisation and are unsure whether you require additional insurance, please contact the church manager here.

  • All hall users are responsible for making sure that anyone helping with their activities is properly trained and capable of carrying out their tasks safely. This includes understanding any risks or safety measures that apply to what they are doing in the hall, for example lifting or moving items.

It’s especially important that everyone can understand and follow safety and emergency instructions at all times.

We may ask hall users to take part in additional safety briefings or training sessions if we believe this is necessary to ensure activities can be carried out safely.

  • Before using the hall, we will inform you of any known hazards or risks in the building. If you would like a copy of the Halls & Meeting Rooms Risk Assessment, please contact the Church Manager here.

You must take this information into account when planning your activities and when carrying out your own risk assessments. We may ask you to provide written risk assessments before your event or activity. These must be completed, reviewed, and followed as agreed.

If we ask you to make changes to your safety plans, these must be done before your activity begins. You are also responsible for making sure that everyone helping with your activity understands any risks involved and follows all safety instructions while using the hall.

  • You are responsible for promptly notifying us of any accidents, incidents or near-misses that occur whilst on our premises.

These can be recorded using the designated report forms which are located in the labelled cupboard outside the church office. Completed forms should be given to the Church Manager or placed in a sealed envelope and left in the Church Office.

  • We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone who uses our halls. That means we all have a part to play.

If you notice anything that looks unsafe, broken or not quite right - please report it.

You can do this by scanning the QR codes which are located throughout the building or you can click here to make a report.

Together, we can prevent small problems from becoming big ones.

  • Please ensure that all your activities comply with any relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice. This includes, but is not limited to, safeguarding and food safety.

  • You are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of your attendees (incl. staff and volunteers) at all times. Attendees must remain within the area you have hired and should not enter any other parts of the premises.

You must ensure that any equipment is used safely and that all attendees, including children and vulnerable individuals, are appropriately supervised and supported throughout your visit.
